I went to South Korea with a friend for four days and three nights. In Japan and South Korea were similar modern high-rise buildings and young person’s fashion. In conclusion, the towns in South Korea had very similar atmosphere with the towns in Japan. It was only a signboard of the Hangul alphabet to be different. Then, I guessed the biggest difference between Japan and South Korea is only language, but I noticed there were many deference and similarities them. Of course, the culture and the language are different in South Korea and Japan, but I think culture in two countries is same through the main food is rice and eat various foods such as fish, vegetables, and noodles. Moreover, I think language is same between Japanese and Korean. It continue with a subject, a predicate, and a complement. For example, “私はかおりです(Watashiha Kaori desu)” means ”저는 카오리 입니다”(jeonun kaori imida) 私は(Watashiha) means 저는. かおり(Kaori) means 카오리. です(desu) means 입니다.
The first difference is the prices. I visited Myondon in Seoul. Myondon is the first shopping center in Seoul. The town was filled with many young people and stores. I bought cosmetics, clothes, and food in there and also I ate ビビンバ(bibinba), 焼肉(yakiniku), 冷麺(reimen), キムチ鍋(kimuchinabe), and so on. There was very delicious and cheaper than Japan. Furthermore, the fares are cheaper, too. For example, the base fare of the taxi is one hundred ninety yen, and train was one hundred yen, so I thought it is very convenient.
The second difference is people. I took a train for the first time in South Korea. Station was look like subway in Japan and there were many big flat screen TV on the wall. I did not understand how to got on the train, but when we had a trouble, the man was helped us. He could not speak Japanese, but he explained it in English, so thanks to him, we were able to arrived at the destination. I believe that Korean were kinder than Japanese because if he or she has a trouble, I cannot talk to them.
The third difference is the clerks. Many Korean employees could speak Japanese. They sometimes eat in the shop and talked with the clerks in the next shop. I thought the boss would be angry at once if I did such a thing in Japan.
I was able to know some difference and similarities between Japan and South Korea through this trip. I want to know more it because I can find Japanese cool. Therefore, I’d like to introduce Japanese culture for foreigners to know more Japan.
