The differences between Japan and China

There are a lot of differences between countries. I especially felt it through my experience in summer holidays. In summer holidays, an exchange student in Bunkyo Gakuin University came my home for four days. When she told me about China, I found many difference between China and Japan.

The first thing I noticed was differences of foods, especially the quantity of oil. Ordinary Japanese meals are hardly used oil, because most of Japanese meals are “nimono”, food which is boiled and seasoned. Salt and sugar are used more than oil. In contrast, most of Chinese meals are different. Japanese meals are almost brown, but Chinese meals are full of colors like the red of shrimps and the green of bell peppers. As for sweets, I think Japanese ones are more colorful and look prettier than Chinese ones. When I went to China town in Yokohama, I hardly see Chinese sweets like Japanese style. Chinese sweets are brown and baked, but then I think sweets taste close to Japanese ones. The reason I think it is Japanese sweets are made from beans paste. It’s so sweet. It matches with green tea. In China, almost sweets are made from beans paste like a Japanese one. It also matches with Chinese tea.

I found another difference through chat. That is the policy by government. When she was born in 1989, China had be one child by government. The government has doing this policy since 1779. A purpose is to do below a natural increase ate of the population 1 percent. In this policy, the government restricts severely the child of one husband and wife to one. I know already about it, but I wasn’t able to believe, because, in Japan, there is aging society and declining birth rate now. I was really surprised, and I think this difference is interesting because this difference is the exact opposite. Thanks to her, I could know about neighboring country. I think it’s a good experience to find these differences. In conclusion, I'm happy to tell her about Japan. I also found other Japanese good points, and I want to know difference between Japan and another countries.
