In summer vacation I went to Korea for a week. It’s from 4 September to 11 September. I thought that the days which I set are cheaper than August. Then, I had a very good time. It was wonderful time.
The reason I wanted to go Korea was because of my mother. She is Korean so when I child, I went to Korea many times but I haven’t gone to Korea for ten years so I decided to go to Korea by myself.
After I decided that, at first, I worked hard and saved money. Finally, I had 130 thousand yen. There was enough money to go to Korea. Next, I studied Korean. I can speak Korean but it’s not good enough to tell my feelings to a native perfectly. I wanted to speak Korean better so I spoke to my mother in Korean as much as possible at home and watched Korean movies and listing to Korean music.
Thanks to these efforts, I really enjoyed the trip. I was grateful that I could see many places and was able to have good conversation with many people. I went to Seoul and Jeju island, shopping, sea, kangwong land and so on with my uncle and relatives. We talked about a lot of things in Korean. For example, about our families and differences between Japan and Korea. I said that two countries are similar. Of course, there are small cultural difference but they have many good cultures. Therefore they had better understand each other and share their cultures. I think that I had very nice experience. And I could have a dream to go to many foreign countries. To realize it I want to study English and Korean. And I want to experience more wonderful trip.

My Pride
“I’m lovin’ it.” This word is our crew’s hospitality. We welcome customers to McDonald’s kindly. Because we consider them to be a special guest, they will talk to us friendly, and trust us. By word of mouth, we have a good reputation. They will come with coworker, friends. In this way I hope that McDonald’s becomes particular place for them.
We have six steps of service. First of all, we greet cheerfully with smile when a lot of guests come into McDonald’s. Then, I don’t forget to see eyes each other. When I can’t tell a foreigner what I say, we see eyes each other. I shouldn’t say automatically, I try to adapt the speed of several guests. If there is a long line of people waiting to order something, I’m going to look at a situation frequently. In addition, I take an order. The point is to listen to guest’s order until the end. When the guest is thinking and ordering foods, I don’t have to talk to them too much. To keep listening to order until the end is a piece of hospitality because for example, guests can say anything like complaints endlessly. If guests hesitate which type of foods he should take, I will suggest a new type of food to a guest. I will explain it simply with using short words. If old people come to McDonald’s, I suggest a soft food like filet-o-fish. This sandwich is very popular with old people who are unable to chew tough foods well. I always suggest suitable foods to each guest. The most important thing is to receive the voice of guests flexible.
Another counter person prepares ordered foods for guests. The time from taking an order to giving foods is set by 72 minutes. When I finish preparing foods, I will check twice. If a family comes to McDonald’s, I will lead a family to vacant seats with carrying ordered foods. When the children take a toy of happy-set, he or she will be happy, so the children also feel one of the guests, I think. The happy-set is for the children. Finally, we are glad of a second coming. Then, we greet with smile and bow politely.
I have been worked at McDonald’s for five months. I sometimes have distaste for hard work; the manager warns of jobs, a specific customer complains about our attitude and service without trying hard. But I decide to think positive. Whatever happens, I will keep taking it easy.
Moreover I must think of previous service so that I acquire a speedy service. My movements are slow in my private time, so this job is hard for me. Now, I am able to think things efficiently in daily life. Thanks to McDonald’s, I changed my life. I will never change my pace at any other fast-food restaurants. Also, I learned to talk to different people beyond the generation. Servicing is not taking hold of things but feeling kindness, I think. I appreciate working at McDonald’s. I can find the other self. I’m proud of one of the crews.

The World Is Too Small
Now in this world, I think you must surprise that the world is so small.
Most of us have had an experience which reminds us the world is getting smaller. Perhaps when you went to some place far away from the city you live in and thought you knew nobody there, you were surprised to find that you ran into one of your old classmates on the street! Then both of you cried out, “What a small world!” Maybe she is living in there, maybe just by chance.
Why is the world getting smaller and smaller? For one thing, we are well aware of the role of modern transportation in our lives. Not too long ago, people endured great hardship in order to make a long journey. Moving heavy goods from one town to another involved hard labor. Today, we enjoy the convenience of various kinds of vehicles including ships, planes, trains, and automobiles, which allow us to go wherever we choose and make our workload much lighter. But modern transportation, along with convenience has brought some problems. With more drivers on the road, there has been an increase in traffic jams and accidents. The exhaust from automobiles has added to our air pollution, not to mention additional noise caused by trucks and cars on the road. So, meanwhile we also should prevent these occurrences. For another thing, with the development of modern society, people are in contact with one another more frequently. There are thousands of languages spoken around the world today. Everyday we must deal with a lot of people unknown to us before. The more advanced a society, the more contacts we make with others. (Some scientists say that soon machines will be developed for sending messages through the earth. The technology necessary to build these machines is very complex. At that time, You will even more exclaim in surprise small of world.
At the end, we can draw the conclusion that as long as technology makes progress, the world will grow smaller and smaller.

Difference and similarities between Japan and South Korea
I went to South Korea with a friend for four days and three nights. In Japan and South Korea were similar modern high-rise buildings and young person’s fashion. In conclusion, the towns in South Korea had very similar atmosphere with the towns in Japan. It was only a signboard of the Hangul alphabet to be different. Then, I guessed the biggest difference between Japan and South Korea is only language, but I noticed there were many deference and similarities them. Of course, the culture and the language are different in South Korea and Japan, but I think culture in two countries is same through the main food is rice and eat various foods such as fish, vegetables, and noodles. Moreover, I think language is same between Japanese and Korean. It continue with a subject, a predicate, and a complement. For example, “私はかおりです(Watashiha Kaori desu)” means ”저는 카오리 입니다”(jeonun kaori imida) 私は(Watashiha) means 저는. かおり(Kaori) means 카오리. です(desu) means 입니다.
The first difference is the prices. I visited Myondon in Seoul. Myondon is the first shopping center in Seoul. The town was filled with many young people and stores. I bought cosmetics, clothes, and food in there and also I ate ビビンバ(bibinba), 焼肉(yakiniku), 冷麺(reimen), キムチ鍋(kimuchinabe), and so on. There was very delicious and cheaper than Japan. Furthermore, the fares are cheaper, too. For example, the base fare of the taxi is one hundred ninety yen, and train was one hundred yen, so I thought it is very convenient.
The second difference is people. I took a train for the first time in South Korea. Station was look like subway in Japan and there were many big flat screen TV on the wall. I did not understand how to got on the train, but when we had a trouble, the man was helped us. He could not speak Japanese, but he explained it in English, so thanks to him, we were able to arrived at the destination. I believe that Korean were kinder than Japanese because if he or she has a trouble, I cannot talk to them.
The third difference is the clerks. Many Korean employees could speak Japanese. They sometimes eat in the shop and talked with the clerks in the next shop. I thought the boss would be angry at once if I did such a thing in Japan.
I was able to know some difference and similarities between Japan and South Korea through this trip. I want to know more it because I can find Japanese cool. Therefore, I’d like to introduce Japanese culture for foreigners to know more Japan.

No Cell phone, No Life?
Do you have a cell phone with you now? Nowadays, many people have cell phone. In Japan, 96% of high school students have their own cell phone. Cell phones make our lives very convenient. We don’t have to bring a phone book with us anymore, and we don’t even have to memorize anybody’s phone number. However, there is a lot of crime by using cell phone recently, and most of its victims are young people. For example, a student clicked the link to access the homepage which is for adult and teenagers were banned to use. He just tried to make fun of it; however, just for the one click he was demanded a charge. Do you think those young people, such as junior high students and high school students, need cell phones? In my opinion, they do need cell phones with them. There are three reasons why I think they need cell phones.
First of all, many students go to cram school after classes of their high school or junior high school are over. Therefore, they sometimes go back home late. Their parents surely want to know what they are doing, where they are, and why they are late to go back home. Recently, there are many crimes everywhere and every day. They need to contact their parents to relieve them.
Second of all, a cell phone is very useful to do something. You can search for anything on the internet using a cell phone, and you can even shop. When I was in high school, I used to use my cell phone as a dictionary. It also can be a music player. You can look for the latest song on the internet, and download it, then listen it. Now, you don’t have to bring your music player, such as iPod. How convenient cell phones are.
Finally, they must have their own cell phones to keep in touch with their friends. Recently, most high school students have cell phones as I’ve mentioned. The first time you meet someone, he/she asks your e-mail address or cell phone number for sure. Especially young people, they think they can’t live without cell phones. People talk to each other in school, and send e-mails after school to be close friends. Now, it is more difficult to make friends.
In conclusion, the cell phones are now very important products for Japanese. For living, making friends, getting in touch with people, making phone calls, sending e-mails, using the internet, and taking pictures. I cannot even remember the time when I didn’t have my own cell phone. How did I remember all of my friend’s phone numbers? How did I make a plan to hang out with my friends? Many people surely have the same ideas about cell phones as I do. To live today, you can’t live comfortably without a cell phone.

Sports made my life happy
When I was a kid, I was a shy boy that usually couldn’t talk to people I didn’t know. But there was one way I could communicate with them. That was when I was playing sports.
When I was in third grade, my family and I moved to America. I couldn’t talk to anybody. One reason was I couldn’t speak or understand English at that time. The other reason was my character. My classmates tried to communicate with me, but I didn’t response properly. I still remember those days. I was really mad at myself. During time of recess, the classmates took me to the soccer field. Naturally, we started playing soccer. I was a boy that loved to play soccer, and I was pretty good at it. Everyone was surprised by my playing ability. I don’t know why but, I turn into an aggressive person when I play sports. I was telling the players how to move, what to do. First it was all gesture, but as the playing time passed by, I was yelling in English. This was the time when I started communicating with them. As these same days passed by, I was making many friends. I’m not sure when, but my shyness was gone somewhere.
When I became a fifth grader, I was a basketball player. I was playing basketball everyday. I also made a lot of friends by playing basketball. When I got to seventh grade, my family and I moved back to Japan. At that time, I was a boy who could communicate with anybody. I joined the basketball club for my school. We were one of the schools that had the hardest practice in Tokyo. Many teammates that practiced together are my best friends now. We know how it feels to work hard. We know about each other because we spent a lot of time in practice. I was spending most of my school days with them. Even though we all went to different high-schools, we kept in touch. We knew about each others information because we all became captains or the star player for our team and played against each other many times, thanks to our hard work in middle-school.
Now, we all play together in a team that we made. All the members are the graduates from the same middle-school. We are the oldest players, and the young players are like our small brothers. We are like a family. They are sometimes my best friends, and sometimes my brothers. I’m sure that if I hadn’t played basketball, I couldn’t have had this much fun and also couldn’t have had relationships like these. Sports made my life happy.

The environment
I think that people preserve the earth. And a luxurious life needs to be reexamined. The growth of this area is amazing. People get affluent life. But on the other side, the natural environment is rapidly disappearing. For example, an oil spill, a landfill, and a pollutant. What do you think about gloval warming ? All the countries of the world where is rising temperature. Because, depletion of the ozone layer has gotten worse. Especially, ozone layer of over the South Pole is confirmed a remarkable decrease on September to October. This phenomenon is called an ozone hole. If ozone layer is breaked, ultraviolet rays increases. Then people will be suffering from skin cancer, a cataract and more. And harvests of crops will decrease.
The ozone layer is destroyed by chlorofluorocarbon(CFC). CFC was used of refrigerators, detergents and forming agents. CFC is stable material of scientific. So it was not resolve a chemical compound into its constituent, if it was released to the atmosphere. When it reaches the stratosphere, CFC absorbs to resolve ultraviolet rays. And it releases chlorine. It is a factor of depletion of the ozone layer. Moreover, it brings about a chain reaction. A molecule of chlorine breaks twenty to thirty thousand molecules of CFC.
A protocol of Montreal In 1987, it was decided that stop to make CFC. People became to think about the earth a little. But CFC that we have already released, reach the stratosphere for a long time. So CFC dose not eliminate if we stop to make CFC. And ozone layer can never again be former.
Some Japanese say that Eco is ego. But it is not even funny. Now, what we need is not to give up. People have to put our environmental idea into practice. Actually, people became active that decrease CO2, collect thing of releasing CFC, and plant trees. These are important things. People think about the earth one by one.

History of Makeup
Many women try to become beautiful, so they make up their face and keep their youth. However, the way to use makeup today is different from ancient times. Let’s study the history of makeup!
People who lived in ancient Japan painted their face and body red. In ancient times red was thought to have strong power related to the color of the sun, blood, fire, the soul, and so on. They used red for as a holy color. Well, how was makeup used in other countries? People in ancient Egypt made perfume and used makeup around their eyes black. The birth of makeup was related to religion in Egypt, too.
In ancient Rome, Greeks painted their faces white. Fair skin was thought beautiful in Rome. Many women used white powder and cheek rouge. It was considered to show high status. However, these cosmetics contained much lead and silver sulfide. Then, their skin became rough and people could become poisoned and die. In Japan, not only women but also Kabuki actors were injured by the same chemical substances in Edo period.
In ancient Rome, makeup was dangerous. However, many women didn’t stop making up their faces. Why? I think many women hope to become beautiful and charming now, just as in the past. This idea hasn’t changed for a long time. Though the government forbade women to use makeup, they didn’t stop. They clung to beauty.
Today, cosmetics have improved with scientific progress. Thank to scientists’ efforts, now we can use safe cosmetics. I think, we can get many cosmetics now, but there is a long history and many scientists’ efforts in the background. We should try to cherish these now we can use cosmetics safely and easily.

Notice How Happy We Are
In Japan, news about murder is reported almost everyday. Moreover, many people commit suicide in Japan, so the news about it is also not uncommon.
How about another country? Do you know the Kingdom of Bhutan? When I was a high school student, a Bhutanese man came to our school and talked about Bhutan. I knew the details about Bhutan for the first time at that time.
Bhutan is not a developed country like Japan. There is only one university in Bhutan. People do not kill even animals because killing is prohibited by their religion, but they do not think they are poor or unhappy.
In addition to, he said “GNH(Gross National Happiness) is very high in Bhutan.” GNH is an index of happiness. They feel they are very happy and spent their lives in appreciation of their life, so murder and suicide hardly happen in Bhutan.
How about Japan? Does everyone feel happy for our life? Do we spend our life in appreciation? Japan is filled with many useful things. We can eat foods whenever we want to eat. We can go to hospital and receive treatment for disease soon. We get used to this life and we always forget to appreciate our life.
Recently, people who have no regard for lives have been increasing, so murder or suicide happen almost everyday. Your life is not for only yours. If you have no regard for your own life, your family and friends feel sad.
We hardly think “Why I am so happy? I am so blessed!” when we are happy, but we think “Why I am so unhappy?!” when we have a problem and sometimes people feel loneliness. But it is distinct. We have family and friends. Everyone is need by someone. We spent our life in a favorable environment. We have to notice haw happy we are. If we can notice, maybe we can decrease murder or suicide like Bhutan.

A Feeling of Gratitude
Do you think about these wards that “a feeling of gratitude”? We live our life that I have a lot of relationship people such as my family, friends, and so on. Could I live spiritedly, if I was alone? I think I couldn’t. When I was feeling happy, sad, or hard, someone along with me then, so I can enjoy spending daily now. I think I want to support and save them that supported to me, when they are happened to something that as well as me. When I was watching the Olympic Games on TV, I thought about “a feeling of gratitude”.
The Olympic Games were held in Beijing this year. Many athletes did their best. Some athletes could get medals and others couldn’t. You know, the Olympic Games are held every four years. It’s very difficult for athletes to keep on training hard for four years. Many difficulties confront them. For instance, to get injuries, to fall the depressions, and so on. It’s difficult for me to practice hard even for a year and I may give up along the way.
Why these athletes can put up with training hard and didn’t give up? When I was watching the Olympic Games on TV, I realized that athletes were working hard to win for someone such as their family, lover, or coach. I think most of the athletes who got medals have a feeling of gratitude for someone that supports and cheer for these athletes and they don’t give up for someone. When athletes finished training hard, someone will take care of them. I think someone makes strength for training and strength for fighting to oneself. I realized people live them life without live only one. Each person is wrapped in someone’s love and I am too.
Having a feeling of gratitude and love for someone are a lot of power. I can’t be an Olympic athlete but I can say,”thank you.” to someone that support and save me anytime. Do you have a person you want to say “thank you.” to someone? I have lots. So I don’t want to forget to keep a feeling of gratitude in my mind for someone everyday and say “thank you.” to them.

The Beijing Olympics
This year, a festival called the Olympics once four years was held in Beijing. Athletes of many countries gathered there. Then various games took place.
In August 8th at “The Bird’s Nest” national stadium, the opening ceremony was held. It was a gorgeous performance. Many sets and clothes were beautiful. After that, the athletes entered the field. Then the Olympics Torch carried by its torchbearer was lighted on the Olympics flame holder. The flame was flaming up powerfully.
During the Olympics, there were a lot of impressive scenes. In the swimming race, Mr. Michael Phelps accomplished the unprecedented achievement of eight gold medals. I think that he has made extraordinary effort. Mr. Kousuke Kitajima obtained two gold medals and a bronze one. He swam in the breaststroke race both 100m and 200m, but he had a world new record in the 100m race. In the 400m relay, he obtained a bronze medal. Japanese people were moved by the achievement. Mr. Kousuke Kitajima was interviewed after the 100 race with tears in his eyes.
In fencing, Mr. Yuki Ohta got the silver medal, which was the first medal won by a Japanese athlete. It is a wonderful achievement.
In softball, the Japanese team beat the American team and got a gold medal. One member of the Japan team, Ms. Ueno, pitched more than 400 balls. She continued to pitch balls at two games on her own and steered the Japanese team to victory. I think that it is not easy to do it. It was wonderful pitching.
In this way, athletes do extraordinary effort for the game. I was often told various people to try what thing. When I see the person who makes an effort, I am moved by it. We live various surroundings, societies, schools, universities, colleges, companies and so on. In such circumstances, we are able to find our own sense of value. My dream is taking the job that uses English. It is important not to give up and go on making an effort. I also want to try for my dream so that I can achieve goal.

The differences between Japan and China
There are a lot of differences between countries. I especially felt it through my experience in summer holidays. In summer holidays, an exchange student in Bunkyo Gakuin University came my home for four days. When she told me about China, I found many difference between China and Japan.
The first thing I noticed was differences of foods, especially the quantity of oil. Ordinary Japanese meals are hardly used oil, because most of Japanese meals are “nimono”, food which is boiled and seasoned. Salt and sugar are used more than oil. In contrast, most of Chinese meals are different. Japanese meals are almost brown, but Chinese meals are full of colors like the red of shrimps and the green of bell peppers. As for sweets, I think Japanese ones are more colorful and look prettier than Chinese ones. When I went to China town in Yokohama, I hardly see Chinese sweets like Japanese style. Chinese sweets are brown and baked, but then I think sweets taste close to Japanese ones. The reason I think it is Japanese sweets are made from beans paste. It’s so sweet. It matches with green tea. In China, almost sweets are made from beans paste like a Japanese one. It also matches with Chinese tea.
I found another difference through chat. That is the policy by government. When she was born in 1989, China had be one child by government. The government has doing this policy since 1779. A purpose is to do below a natural increase ate of the population 1 percent. In this policy, the government restricts severely the child of one husband and wife to one. I know already about it, but I wasn’t able to believe, because, in Japan, there is aging society and declining birth rate now. I was really surprised, and I think this difference is interesting because this difference is the exact opposite. Thanks to her, I could know about neighboring country. I think it’s a good experience to find these differences. In conclusion, I'm happy to tell her about Japan. I also found other Japanese good points, and I want to know difference between Japan and another countries.

The history of discrimination
What do you think when you hear about discrimination? There are many kinds of discrimination all over the world, for example, sex discrimination, reverse discrimination and segregation. When I was a junior high school student, I learned about segregation and Martin Luther King, and I got the information of real segregation for the first time. Since then, I wanted to know about segregation. And I will tell you about that below.
White people had worked black people as slaves at many trades with foreign countries since 17th the century. After that, the way white people worked black people became worse, for instance, blacks were forced to work hard at plantation of cotton from morning till night. And black people were chained, did not eat enough and hungered in the USA and Europe. Therefore, the blacks could not have the rights and marry the whites. Although some presidents opposed discrimination, the institution about slavery was not abolished. But in 1963, Martin Luther King appealed for the abolition of segregation and boycotted against injustice in the USA. Then, he made the famous address. He said, “I have a dream. One day my four little children will not be judged by the color of their skin. One day the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” In those days, there were many things which black people could not do. For example, they couldn’t use the same toilets, enter the same restaurants and take the bus seats. ‘White only’ was the law. But finally they could have civil rights thanks to his efforts.
How about the current relation between blacks and whites? These days, black people can use the toilets, enter the restaurants and take the bus seats without hesitation. Moreover, black people can vote and marry white people. Also black actors costar with white actors when we watch TV and movies, and black children and white children go to the same school today. I thought it seemed a wonder that blacks and whites live in the same society when I heard the speech Mr. King addressed. Thus, it seems that they have no problem about race. But discrimination maybe remains in a part of the world. I think people who are discriminated cannot enjoy themselves. Accordingly, we should abolish discrimination as many as possible.

Why Did He Kill Himself?
His name is Jacques Mayol, a diver. He was born in 1927 in Shanghai. In beginning of the war, he went to Marseilles, his hometown. Then, he helped the poor condition of his family with his brother, Pierre, by diving and fishing. When Jacques was 21, he and Pierre went to journey to Europe. In that place, Jacques fell in love and he had a daughter. After that, they went on Canada and America. Jacques met a dolphin named Crown in the aquarium in which he worked. It is fantastic meeting for him. After this meeting, he insisted on his theory “The dolphin man”. Its theory could be connected to his thought; the justice of right of all animals and the global environmental preservation. When he became a champion of free diving in Bahama, he surprised people by his record. It was 105 m. In the course of time, a movie, “The Grand Blue”, which the main character is modeled on Jacques, was made.
Jacques Mayol is my hero. He had many friends and supporters all over the world and he spent his life with the sea which he loved the most. He lived as he wanted. I have been thinking that I want to live my life as him so I was very shocked when I heard about his death. He committed suicide by hanging himself in 2001 when he was 74 years old. People lamented his death, and of course, I also did. “Why?” I thought. “Why did he kill himself? He must have been happy. He had a title of the champion of free diving and had been surrounded with his friends, brother and dolphins by the sea. Why did the man who so loved the sea and was loved by sea decide to die?” It was possible that he despaired of his old body or starved of affection but I didn’t understand him even I read the book written by him or his brother.
Last summer, I had a license of scuba diver because I thought I would understand the reason he committed suicide if I see the sight that Jacques had been looking once by my eyes. That place which he finally reached even separated his wife and family is so tempting or fascinating? In fact, the blue I saw was very beautiful. It was so beautiful that I forgot how to breathe. Fish, seashells, rocks, coral, sunlight, everything was bright. But the thing I felt the most beautiful was the surface which I looked up from water. I had a very strange feeling that I was floating around blue which has no sound, no air, no gravity and no sky. I was seeing creatures swimming freely in the restraint which we call water. Has he been tired of looking at the sight? Could not he have already loved it? Or, did he want to be with the sea forever through the death?
“I’m tired. I’m not interested in anything. I’m weary of acting a nonexistent Santa Claus.” Jacques said to Pierre before he died. I couldn’t believe that he said it all at once because I thought he was a very curious man. Pierre said that Jacques’s character is quite difference between the real and the movie. “Santa Claus” would mean his image expected by people. The many youth respected him as a god, but I think he couldn’t stand the pressure and he thought he was misunderstood by other people, and finally he might have fell into misanthropy. He didn’t go out of his house gradually and he was killing himself little by little. He lived as he followed his curiosity but maybe he exhausted himself by living hard. Ultimately he killed himself just like the story of “Martin Eden” written by Jack London. This book was his life’s bible. I’m sure that his thought is understood by only himself or dolphins.
That floating silhouette will never die in the grand blue. I believe that the man who loved sea and dolphins went forth the deep sea to meet dolphins. The blue world was like heaven. I want to meet dolphins in the water someday.

My Part-Time Job
I think that it is important for us to communicate with people who exist around us. During this summer vacation, I worked at a place where adults or volunteers take care of primary schoolchildren because their parents aren’t in their house when the children come back home from school. Recently, double-income parents have increased in order to earn more money for their living because of the recession. Their parents worry about leaving children alone in their house. That’s why they entrust their children to adults’ care. I felt that family and volunteers in the region are very important through my part-time job.
Firstly, I understood the needs of parents. I worried about this job when I had started it because children are so free that I couldn’t bring them together and they had sharp little tongues. However when I became used to working at this job, I thought that they made up to me because they felt lonely. As for me, there is always my mother in my house, so I hardly feel lonely, but the children who came to my job can’t meet their parents in the daytime, so they always feel more loneliness than me. I felt it important for them to be their parents beside them when they talked about their parents or family, and their parents came for them even if children are very reliable. I should think over once more about importance of parents’ existence through the children.
Secondly, it is essential to support people who are volunteers or neighbors. While I spent time with them, I experienced handicrafts and a game called “suikawari” in Japanese by the volunteers. Children were very excited during this. These experiences are rare nowadays, so they had a very good time owing to volunteers. In fact, there are many things which volunteers and neighbors support around us every day without us noticing. For example, they pick up the garbage, pass on traditions and so on, but most of us don’t understand this situation. I want everyone to notice this situation, and communicate more with them.
Most importantly, everybody needs to have love for someone. I felt it most while I worked at this place. Particularly, I thought it when I worked for the first time. When I started to work, I didn’t know that I would come in contact with children. I couldn’t get used to smiling at them. They also didn’t smile at me so much because I didn’t smile. I gradually understood how to develop better rapport, I could express something in my mind and come in contact with love. I had a discovery about a volunteer. In the case of volunteers, they always looked at children’s eyes and communicated with children as hard as they could. I noticed that children don’t respond unless we have love. It is not only true of children, but also is true of adults.
I didn’t only teach to children, but I also learned many important things from children. They gave me a chance that I should look over existence around me again. Maybe we usually spend our life without becoming aware of someone’s love or needs because this condition is too natural to notice the needs of people. I want more people to pay attention around them, and I should feel grateful for family or volunteers. If we must have an opportunity which they support someone, we should say more “Thank you” and give them love! I think it good that these opportunities increase more from now on. If I hadn’t worked at this job, I wouldn’t have felt it. I spent a good time and experienced a good work.

Why we study
Have you ever thought that why we study? Japanese children’s scholastic ability is falling off. I think that school education became less strenuous, teachers are too mild, and so on. In particular, I think that Japanese children lack of the will to learn. Recently, the number of people who read books is decreasing. I don’t read books very much, either. However there are lots of children who can’t study all over the world. I’m interested in them, so I want to tell you about education of developing country.
In developing countries, children are precious labor force. They can’t live by only parents income, so children must work for them own family. They know study is important, but the cost of living is the most important thing.
Besides, they don’t have many teachers. It’s a strange problem for me, but it’s a big problem. Intellectuals don’t want to be teachers because of the low salaries. Teachers’ salaries are too low. When there are no teachers, children can’t learn anything.
Still children can’t study in school in school even if we raise money to make them school. In reality, all they need is money to live. For example, in Laos, there are some schools If children enter school, half of them stop going to school in a few months. Why? They study in the same classroom with different grades, because classrooms are scarce, and teachers too. In addition, students have no stationery. They study sharing two or three pencil with some other students. When someone uses a pencil, others can’t use it. They must feel that it’s a waste of time to do so, because they can’t study everything them own way and they can’t get money, so they can’t keep going to school. It’s a terrible environment. I think they need a better environment for working and studying.
I could understand that our environment to study is wonderful. We should know that. We can get lots of knowledge, and we can know what’s happening in this world anytime. To learn may change our future. That is why we study.

Why I Study English
Why did you decide to study English? Why do you like English or foreign countries?
When I was a child, I went to an English school for children. My younger sister had been there before I went. This school was not for study. We just sang English songs and played some dramas in English. However, I didn’t like to go there. I didn’t like to memorize my lines of the drama and I didn’t feel it was fun. Moreover, I had to go to America if I continued until I was a junior high school student. I didn’t want to go to America then. Therefore, I left that school and I still didn’t like English when I entered junior high school. I had been thinking “Why must I study English? I’m a Japanese!” I never thought then I would like English.
But when I was in second grade of junior high school, I began to listen to English music. A friend of mine listened to English music, so I was interested in it too. I also got interested in English by music. I have been listening to lots of English music. It is a powerful incentive for me to study English and I began to be interested in foreign countries because I wanted to know about the places where my favourite singers grew up. I also like western films. My father likes them, so I used to see films from I was a little child.
The film and music make me study English. If I was not interested in them, I don’t think would have come to like English and be interested in foreign countries now. They broaden my horizons. I would like to understand the lyrics without Japanese lyrics. I would like to understand the lines without subtitles. I have those aims, so I decided to try to study English more at university. I’d like also to meet various foreign people. It is very interesting to meet new people and my life experience will be large. Therefore, I study and like English. English changes my life.

Colors
Do you know that colors have a lot of powers? All things have colors. And there
are many effect for us. After all, you always are surrounded many color.
First, you need 3 element for seeing colors. First thing is object. If there was not anything, you could not see colors. Second things is light. If you entered dark room, you could not see anything. Last thing is your eyes. If you crossed your eyes, you could not see anything.
Let’s consider if there was no color in this world. There is like black-and-white everything. Of course you could not feel signal. Maybe you feel very sad.
Next, I will explain colors little bet. Colors have 3 attribute. First thing is hue. Second things is brightness. Last things is chroma. There are important element when you see colors.
Colors give us psychological effects. For instance, you are felt icy from blue. And you are felt warm from red or orange. Also you are felt soft and light from yellowish green or pale blue. And you are felt hard and heavy from black or brown. Do you have border cloth? Border are used magic of colors. For instance, you can see different between border of white and border of brack.
Colors involve fashion and interior. People feel various things each color. And each color have different impression. So, people use the cloth of color some scene.
I am interested to learn colors effect. So I study a little bet. I could find that colors have many effect for people. And I could see everything by many view. If you understand colors, you could get more good effects.
We always have close relation with colors. And, colors is existence of fuman’s feeling expression. We could get many fun, if there were many colors.

Losing Changes My Life
Have you ever lost any precious possession of yours and regretted losing it, and hoped to get it back if you could? Most people have had this experience at least once before. For example losing something like cash is the most common experience. Another one is to have lost your lover. I think that loss not only has one meaning in our life, but also means a small different each person. Of course I’ve had those experiences, too.
When I was an elementary school student, in the summer vacation, I spent ordinary life the same as others, and I enjoyed it. I went to school with friends of mine, I took part in a summer festival several times, and so on. However one happening changed my life dramatically.
One day I answered the phone at home, but no one replied to me, keeping silent throughout. My mother asked me why I didn’t answer my father. Then I couldn't understand entirely what she said. She began to talk with someone after I handed the phone to her. I had a strange something in my right ear. I tried whether my right ear could hear or not. It was time that I lost an important part of myself. I realized what happened to me. I wasn’t able to use my right ear. A doctor, Ms. Akimoto, my family doctor since childhood, told me it was caused by some virus from mumps, and there was no idea how to cure it yet. She also said “If the medicine at present would develop better in the future, it might be impossible for your right ear to get back.” She looked sorry while she told me about detail for my mother and me. Even now I remember the experiences of that day well. I guess losing the sense of hearing was so serious that I was suffered from deafness then.
When I was in hospital to examine my ear during summer vacation, I'd considered the reason why it was me that lost the sense of hearing. I tried to understand that it was no use suffering in my brain but I wouldn't allow the fact. I'd just lost one of my parts. Nevertheless I couldn't help feeling an inferiority complex about my ear. In fact I've felt some differences between me and others. First of all, I have to be more careful than before in communicating. I always keep the right side of person as I can hear well. Secondly most people tend to forget about it with passage of time though. I have to tell same explanation again. People don’t aware of my deafness because this sick can’t see. If I want someone to know it, there is only way to tell. Finally I do have danger of losing the other ear at any time. I can't declare that I'm never going to lose it even if its possibility is low.
However as I've gradually grown up, I have been able to change negative ideas into positive ones. I found one idea of my own way; people always think it is natural that people regret losing something and try to get it back as much as possible. Because we are able to realize the importance of things after we lost. I guess we can supply other things instead of losing ones in almost cases. Unfortunately we have more cases in which we cannot get it back than the one in witch we can get it back. Therefore I want people to think again of all of the things you have now, about the values. And I hope you are thankful to be able to live naturally before it is too late. I’ve never been able to hear with my right ear, but I’ve never forgot learning from my right ear.

Food Circumstance: Throwaway Food
Recently, the price of food has gone up more and more. However, the restaurants, and convenience stores in Japan throws away a large amount of foods every day. There are a lot of people who starve with hunger in the world.
I was taking the class of "Global environment theory" and I studied about food problem. Now, Japan relies on imports from foreign countries. Do you know how many tons foods Japan import? It is 58 million tons a year. However, 19.4 million tons foods are thrown away a year. In other words, one-third of the imported foods are thrown away. Today, 7.4 million tons foods are food aid, but Japan throws away about 3 times as much as food aid.
I think Japanese food company product foods too much, so I think Japanese company should product correspond to demand. The other my idea is that introduce food rejection tax. If adopted this system, we could reduce loss of imported foods and thrown away foods. The next idea is discount. If the supermarkets discounted, sales is more grow up and reduce the food which is throw away.
Then, what can we do this problem? In fact 58 million tons include domestic rejection. I think we shouldn’t throw away food which was out of date. I checked about “Best Before Date” on the internet. The Web site told me if best before date was little over, the food could eat! Best Before Date is the recommendation of time that products can be stored, during which the defined quality of a specified proportion of the goods remains acceptable under expected (or specified) conditions of distribution, storage and display. Most of these labels do not guarantee the safety of food and should be used more as a guide. I think we devise daily food a little, we can reduce thrown away foods.
